Why Travel with Us?

We have 9 Good Reasons

1. The Paths Few Travel

We explore some of the earth's most beautiful and biodiverse places, from lush rainforests to silent deserts, from mountain tops shrouded in clouds to vast expanses of grassland, páramo and prairie, and from rich deltas to the oceans beyond. We connect with local people and indigenous cultures. The images on your phone will pale by comparison to the images etched into your heart. Come! Enjoy the wonders of nature with us!

2. Nature, Wildlife, Birds - And the Local Cultures that Protect it All - It’s What we do

Experiencing the magic of wrestling lion cubs, cavorting wolf pups, a pod of humpback whales bubble-net feeding, or a snowy owl swooping silently down on its prey and, when we can, hearing local folks tell how their ancestors lived with these creatures since time immemorial, or learning about their conservation efforts from researchers on the site is unforgettable and life-changing.

3. We Travel in Small Groups

The small group size keeps your experience personal, our footprint small, and allows us to visit places that bigger groups cannot. And in these small groups, our professional local guides has more time to answer your questions, explain, help, and enhance your journey. On many trips we meet with scientists, researchers or others for a deeper dive into an animal or ecosystem. This is not just about a check-mark on the map - in our small groups the world opens to you. Enjoy. Experience. Learn!

4. We Don't Like Crowds

And we assume you don’t either. Hordes of tourists over-loving once-pristine landscapes has caused disastrous results. Many of our bio-rich destinations are in unique, ecologically fragile corners of the world. We seek out places that need the love and gently explore. And when we can, we take advantage of the shoulder seasons, saving you money and ensuring breathing space! Come explore - and breathe - with us!

5. We Travel Responsibly, Ethically – and Authentically

Experiencing life - that is what we think traveling is all about. We seek out locally owned accommodations, local guides, cafes, and other services for an authentic connection to the destination you don’t get with international resorts and providers. And “going local’’ with tourism helps to support a non-extractive economy that helps preserve the biodiversity of fragile ecosystems.

6. Your Trip Helps at Home, Too

Most of our small-group tour costs include a pre-set donation to a specific conservation-missioned US nonprofit organization. When you book with us, the organization receives a donation, and you get an unforgettable journey - plus a tax-ready receipt.

It’s all in black and white so check out the trip offer to see who your vacation helps. We work with 501C3 organizations such as the Grassland Bird Trust, The Wolf Conservation Center in New York State, and the Felidae Conservation Fund in California and others. Do you know of a local nonprofit that could use our help? Let us know.

Before We Travel Together
We feel the best trips are with friends - even if we never met before. We plan one or two ZOOM sessions prior to our trip date to meet each other, share tips, and answer the questions on everyone’s minds.

During the Trip We Monitor Flights and Conditions.
Weather happens and sometimes bags get lost. When there is a change in situation, we are ready to help.

Each Small-group Trip Includes a Local guide AND an Experienced Leader
Why? The first reason is to enhance your experience, answer more questions, provide more insight - and maybe a laugh or two. The second reason is because life is unpredictable. When the unexpected happens (from a broken shoelace to an upset stomach or challenges at a border crossing) we are prepared to deal with the problem - and make sure the group has the best possible experience on their trip.

After the trip,
Let us know what you think. What did you love? What can we improve? Your feedback is important to us!

8. Sheets, Plumbing, and Good Meal

Camping and backpacking are not necessary for an extraordinary experience in nature. Unless specifically outlined otherwise, ALL trips include sheets, plumbing, and good meals. I promise! (But hot water is not always available- so ask.)

9. Lastly - Because Travel Done Right Helps Make the World a Better Place

When you travel with Destination: Wildlife your trip has double impact supporting both conservation at home and biodiversity and unique cultures abroad - plus it’s fun! Wait a minute! - isn’t that a triple impact? These are:
